UNM Signs Cooperation with South Sulawesi Police

Makassar State University (UNM) cooperates with the South Sulawesi Regional Police (Polda) which is marked by the signing of a Cooperation Agreement (PKS). This signing was carried out directly by the Rector of UNM, Prof. Dr.. Ir. Husain Sham, M.TP., IPU., ASEAN, Eng., and the Regional Police Chief, Irjen. Pol. Drs. Merdisyam, M.Si, in the Rectorate Room of Pinisi Tower, Wednesday (07/28/2021).

This cooperation agreement is a follow-up to the memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Education and Culture and the State Police of the Republic of Indonesia on the synergy of the implementation of duties and functions, which include fostering security stability and public order and countering criminal acts that occur in and around the UNM campus area, the implementation of tri darma universities and the implementation of independent learning of independent campuses, as well as the exchange of data, information, expertise and utilization of facilities and infrastructure in the framework of the implementation of agreed activities.

In his speech, The Police Chief of South Sulawesi, Irjen. Pol. Merdisyam, welcomed this cooperation because it was in line with the objectives and expectations of understanding to create a harmonious cooperative relationship between the Police and universities in South Sulawesi in general and UNM in particular.

"Establishing and maintaining relations with universities is an effective way to build stability of security and public order," he explained.

In line with the Regional Police Chief of South Sulawesi, Rector of UNM, Prof. Husain, also revealed that today's agenda is a pride and happiness because synergy between UNM and Polri is needed in order and campus life.

"Synergy between UNM and Polri is needed in order and campus life, security from disruption that occurs can not be separated from the Tri Dharma of universities," he said.

"This cooperation between UNM and Polri is not the first time it has been done, but is always updated, strengthening and synergizing the two institutions in mutual care," he continued.

He hopes that this cooperation can continue to be established, continue to maintain relationships, and still coordinate in creating security both on campus and in the community.

The signing of this Cooperation was also attended by UNM leaders and South Sulawesi regional police officials.
