UNM Psychology PKM-RSH Team Researches Anxiety Reduction Therapy of Covid-19 Survivors

The five-member student team came from the Faculty of Psychology and the Faculty of Education of Makassar State University (UNM) who participated in the Student Creativity Program (PKM) to conduct research that provides benefits to medical personnel of covid survivors. Titled 'Virtual Application of Benson Relaxation Therapy And Point Of You In Reducing Anxiety of Medical Personnel Covid-19 Survivors'.

The PKM team led by Hardiana said that the study was conducted with the aim of knowing the effectiveness of Virtual Benson Relaxation Therapy and Point of You therapy in helping medical personnel of covid survivors reduce anxiety.

"Yes, our research aims to find out the effectiveness of benson relaxation therapy and point of you in reducing the anxiety of medical personnel of covid survivors," he said.

Hardiana explains that Benson Relaxation Therapy is a breathing therapy followed by words that help convince individuals to deal with their anxiety and Point of You is a tool that helps individuals prepare for new challenges.

"So benson relaxation therapy is a therapy that helps lower an individual's anxiety with breathing techniques then is helped by the delivery of reinforcement words to medical personnel. Well, after that Point of You is used to help medical personnel make future planning. So they are ready to face the problem that is causing them anxiety."

Students who are often called Diana also hope that the research they do can help reduce the anxiety of medical personnel of Covid-19 survivors. Thus assisting medical personnel in handling their work in overcoming the problem of the Covid-19 pandemic.

"Yes, we hope that with our research disseminated, it can help reduce the anxiety of more covid survivors. By helping to lower their anxiety, we are indirectly contributing to the vanguard in the fight against covid-19."

In addition to Hardiana, the other four team members are Herianti Sonda, Nur Rahmah Abdullah, and Muh, respectively. Idris Taqi is a student of the Faculty of Psychology of UNM. Another, Muzayyinah Al-Usrah, is from the Faculty of Education at UNM. The team was also guided by Dr. H. Ahmad, S.Ag. S.Psi., M.Si as a lecturer and master of psychology unm.
