Automotive Student Association of Faculty of Engineering UNM Passes Funding of Holistic Program of Village Development and Empowerment (PHP2D) Kemdikbudristek Year 2021

21st century learning in colleges must be able to foster and develop students' soft skills and hard skills as agents of change in society. In connection with that directorate of learning and student affairs (Belmawa), Directorate General of Higher Education, KEMDIKBUDRISTEK provides opportunities for students to jump into building villages, through the Holistic Program of Village Development and Empowerment (PHP2D). This program is expected to provide positive benefits to advance the village and at the same time the implementation of student competence in the community.

PHP2D is also one of the Merdeka Campus Programs initiated by KEMDIKBUDRISTEK which provides opportunities for campus student organizations throughout Indonesia to compete to submit proposals for funding in 2021. A total of 563 proposals from 1755 proposals passed PHP2D funding in 2021 which passed various stages of selection, including administrative selection, subtansi selection and program presentation for teams that passed the substance stage.

Makassar State University (UNM) passed 2 teams from 23 proposals submitted from various faculties at UNM. The PHP2D HMO FT-UNM team led by Sahrul Alam, a student of automotive engineering education class of 2018, became one of the teams that qualified to receive PHP2D funding in 2021 with the title "Empowerment of Laikang Village Communities Based on The Utilization of Livestock Waste Into Biogas and Bio fertilizer to Support Renewable Energy and Food Security Programs" guided by Dr. Moh. Ahsan S. Mandra, ST., MT., who is a lecturer in the Department of Automotive Engineering Education UNM.

Sahrul Alam, stated that his team did not expect to be able to pass funding this year because of the tight competition between universities and the number of proposing student organizations. Therefore, Sahrul and Tim feel very grateful for the passing of the PHP2D HMO FT-UNM Team and thank the KEMENDIKBUDRISTEK who have given confidence to the PHP2D HMO FT UNM Team to contribute directly to solving the problem while empowering the community to take advantage of the potential in Laikang Village.

Thank you also to the leadership of Makassar State University, The Head of the Faculty of Engineering, the Large Family of Automotive Engineering Education Department and especially the guidance lecturer who has helped, encouraged, guided and facilitated in the php2D selection series at UNM.

Furthermore, Dr. Moh. Ahsan S. Mandra, ST., MT. As a guidance lecturer, we hope that this activity can really be a forum for synergy and collaboration between universities and village communities. In addition, it is also a place for students to hone the competencies obtained on campus to be implemented to the wider community so as to train students to be part of the solution of this nation's problems in the future.

The program that will be carried out by PTO students is expected to be one of the village's flagship programs and be a trigger for economic improvement and community welfare and support low-carbon development programs for the achievement of village SDGs goals. Hopefully in the implementation of this program all series of activities can run smoothly and can have a positive impact on the people of Laikang Village, especially in the utilization of livestock waste into biogas and biofertilizers to support renewable energy and food security programs.

This PHP2D activity is scheduled to start in July to December 2021, with a series of activities including: Launching PHP2D HMO-FT UNM Activities, counseling and education to the community, training and mentoring sustainable environmental management, training and mentoring the manufacture of biogas digesters and their care, utilization of organic fertilizers from biogas pulp (slurry) and the application of organic fertilizers on land or pilot gardens owned by the community in Laikang Village.
